An 80-foot (24-meter) slide plummeting through the four levels of this New York City penthouse apartment is just one of the many amazing things about it.

Designed by architect David Hotson, the Skyhouse is a renovated penthouse nestled on top of one of the oldest skyscrapers in the city. And it does have a lot of things to show for.

Let’s start with the slide. The slide adds a youthful and playful feature to the otherwise seemingly serious apartment. It’s the first thing that people notice about this place.

Of course, we can’t overlook stunning vista. The whole place is surrounded with breathtaking views of lower Manhattan. From this apartment, you’ll see some of New York’s most famous landmarks such as St.Paul’s Chapel, the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge. And there’s this tall vestibule you’ll enjoy an “oculus view of an adjacent skyscraper”.

Can you believe that this penthouse has never been actually used as a residence since it was built and designed in 1896? Originally, this was designed as headquarters of the American Tract Society, a religious literature publisher. The building remains as one of the oldest surviving skyscrapers in New York.

The penthouse is decorated by interior designer Ghislaine Viñas. Visitors are welcomed by a private elevator landing that leads to a stairwell shaft that brings you to the uppermost level of the apartment. It’s the visual link between the entry hall with glass floor to the rest of the house floors.

The two primary bedrooms take advantage of natural lighting with the central bedroom providing views of the Woolworth Building’s spire.

Also in that particular bedroom is where you’ll find an incredible glass desk sitting on top of a glass enclosure. This gives you a sneak peek into the penthouse floors below. As for the decors and artworks, one that you can’t miss is the mural inspired by Michael Jackson’s Neverland.

Although we can go on and on about how beautiful and stunning all the parts of this penthouse apartment are, there’s no denying that it’s the slide that sets it apart from the other luxury apartments in New York City.

When you go down that slide, you’ll be taken through the attic, the guest bedroom before you slip through a seamless glass window over the stairs. You can take a stop at the third floor or go back inside the slide and make your down to the bottom most floor.
