Peppermint Rice Krispies Using Crushed Oreo

One of the best things we love about Rice Krispies is the crackling sound that comes with every bite. It seems to tell you to don’t ever stop!

Also known as rice bubbles in New Zealand and Australia, Rice Krispies is a popular breakfast cereal from the Kellogg’s company.

Up to now, we’re not sure who between Eugene McKay and Clayton Rindlisbacher (both from Kellogg’s) is the true inventor of this cereal product. This breakfast cereal is made of crisped rice, hence the name. It also contains sugar paste, which is what’s responsible for its shape.

Rice Krispies is just of the main ingredients of the recipe below. Another prominent name you’ll find in there is Oreo, which has been dubbed as the “world’s favorite cookie”. Oreos are sandwich cookies composed of two round chocolate cookies with sweet creamy filling between.

Apart from Rice Krispies and Oreo, another thing that you’ll need for this dessert is peppermint. This is great news since peppermint is loaded with numerous benefits for the health. Here are some of them:

  • Treats irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) – According to a 2007 Italian study, patients who used peppermint oil for one month enjoyed 75 percent reduced IBS symptoms.
  • Suppresses sugar cravings – A 2011 study revealed that people who were made to smell peppermint oil every two hours didn’t feel hunger pangs and consumed 2,800 fewer calories.
  • Alleviates tension headaches – A 1996 study showed that peppermint can reduce tension headaches effectively.
  • Improves concentration – A study from the Wheeling Jesuit University pointed the link between peppermint and increased alertness, focus and motivation.
